Katie is an amazing physical therapist. I saw her for 4 months and trust what she has to say 100%. Not only is she sweet but she is dedicated to her work and does a lot of advanced training. This is a woman who loves her job and it shows through the care of her patients. Thank you Katie for taking me in and helping me when no one else could. You went above and beyond and I am truly greaftul
Katie helped me with sacroiliac joint pain during my pregnancy. I was having pain to the point of not being able to play on the floor with my kids and really feeling defeated that I would be unable to have a safe and natural delivery during my current pregnancy because of the pain. She diagnosed my problem and got me feeling better in short period of time. She continues to help me with building strength so that I can bring my newest bundle into the world!
I'd recommend her to anyone, especially pregnant or post-partum women who are having pain or other changes in their bodies. If something doesn't feel right to you, Katie is an excellent advocate and will work with you to help you find a solution!
I was having trouble with pain in my left foot. I spend time weekly on a treadmill and elliptical and the pain was reducing that time or causing me to forgo it altogether. After being evaluated by Katie she explained the source of the problem and how it could be remedied with a stretching regimen over time. Or an alternative, she could manually work on the muscle to accelerate the process. To my amazement I was walking pain free within a day and now with regular stretching exercises have been able to continue uninhibited with my exercise equipment.
Working with Katie helped me relieve pain in my pelvic floor, which began after a simple yeast infection in April of 2015. The first time I came to see her I was in tears because I couldn’t sit in a chair, exercise, walk, or enjoy sexual intercourse with my husband without feeling extreme pressure and pain. It was a debilitating condition which limited me in every way. Both my Gynecologist and Primary Doctor didn’t have any answers, so I was referred to Katie. The first day I met her she said, “I am here to help you, and I believe you will get better.” Her confidence, knowledge and education of the canister and the core system was instrumental in helping me understand triggers that led to pelvic pain. She taught me exercises that would help strengthen the core system, gave me tools which would allow me to relieve pressure and pain, and was an inspiration mentally in helping me heal. After 2 months I was able to sit in a chair without pain, walk 3 miles a day, and enjoy pain free sexual intercourse with my husband. There is even a bonus, which I probably can’t say on Facebook, but trust me women when I tell you multiple things happened which are all very good. After 4 months, I began a 12 week total body Physzique challenge, which helped me shed body fat and inches. She helped modify the workout to ensure I didn’t injure my core system, and that I maintained good technique. I have gone weeks’ pain free, and still have occasional triggers but I have learned to manage them. She is my saving grace, and I highly recommend Katie as a medical professional who can truly make a difference in your health and healing
Katie is amazing! I am in my third pregnancy and my hips were hurting so much I was having trouble walking, sitting, sleeping...living. Katie figured out exactly what was going on and gave me the appropriate exercises. Now I feel great and owe it to her. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Physical therapy can be like many other "healthy" parts of our lives -- good for us but requiring some commitment of time and effort. Which is why if I'm going to refer one of my patients for evaluation and treatment, I want the therapist to be absolutely worth it. I have found that nearly every PT office offers services to women, but only a handful do it with passion. Katie Band has that critical passion for women's health that keeps her on the forefront of the science, deep into the patient's history, and giving nothing less than excellent treatment after her diagnosis. Thank you for everything you do for our community!
Katie is a miracle worker! So in tune with our body physically, spiritually and emotionally. She is a healer and I am so grateful for her vast knowledge and abilities to help our bodies naturally. Her compassion and empathy make the healing a therapeutic, life changing experience. Thank you Katie, God Bless!
I have been struggling with disabling knee pain for over a month. I have seen 2 specialist who were unable to relieve this pain or get me back to running. This woman is AMAZING!!! Within 24 hours of treatment I was able to run again, and even better still walk the next day!! She is thorough, confident, and knowledgeable. This doctor knows her stuff!!! I would recommend her to anyone.
Katie seems so much more knowledgeable than your average physical therapist. She was so helpful to me in treating my curved tailbone caused from arthritis. She takes a whole body/whole life approach to figuring out why you are having physical issues in the first place. Her sweet spirit is so pleasant to be around and she makes you feel very comfortable in her professional office. Well worth every penny!
It's been said people come into our lives for "a reason, a season, or a lifetime." Regardless the reason that brings you to Katie she will leave a "lifetime" imprint on your life! ATHLETA recently featured Katie as our Instructor of the Month...and we are better for it! Katie brings heart, soul and a refreshingly genuine desire to better every person's life hers touches. She will challenge you...make you sweat...and leave you feeling more authentically and uniquely beautiful, and powerful, than possibly even you can imagine!
Since I was diagnosed with Scoliosis when I was a teenager, I have had back issues. After two pregnancies and two cesarean sections, I was broken. Every four or six months, my back would go out and I would be in bed for days or weeks. I saw multiple chiropractors, acupuncturists, osteopaths, and physical therapists, and yet no one could seem to identify my issues or give me any relief (even during my episodes). During my third pregnancy I was desperate for help to strengthen my body to withstand another birth and beyond. My doula recommended Katie Band (who the midwife she works with highly recommended). When I went to my OB, Dr. Meltzer, to ask for a referral to see her, he told me she is the best and he would not have me see anyone else. Since starting to see Dr. Band, I have not had ONE SINGLE EPISODE. Despite having gone through pregnancy, another cesarean, and carrying this now 14 lb child around everywhere. I have been close, but she has given me the gift of a toolbox full of strategies to help myself strengthen, reset, and cope with my issues in a way that protects my back and strengthens my core. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I did not find Dr. Band.
Katie Band is an excellent PT and I would highly recommend her to anyone. I saw her for my shoulder and arm pain, and after the first visit I started seeing improvements in mobility and pain. Other PTs I have been to in the past seemed to be more interested in watching me do all the prescribed exercises and ice & heat, which all could have easily been done at home. Katie was great in selecting the right stretches and strengthening exercises for me to do at home so the visits could focus more on hands on work. The videos she took with commentary of the prescribed exercises were a huge help in remembering the small but important details. Throughout the whole process she was eager to answer any and all questions and always available to get ahold of outside of visits. My main goal was to return to work and daily activities as soon as possible and she made it happen. Overall my experience was great!
I saw physical therapist Katie Band for hip pain issues after being referred by my physician. She was very thorough in doing a physical assessment to see what issues I had going on and what the potential causes might be. She gave me a series of exercises which I have continued to do because they helped the problem. I would highly recommend her services.
For years I struggled to sit comfortably on my bike seat, always shifting to the right to ease pain. Doing this for several years led to hip and pelvic floor issues. I saw numerous doctors, bike fitters and physical therapists before finally finding the right combination of physical therapists that could help me. Katie Band focused on my pelvic floor issues. This was a part of my anatomy I wasn’t really comfortable talking to other health care professionals about. Katie immediately put me at ease. She clearly knew what she was talking about and understood that I might not be that comfortable.
It was clear that Katie had a vast knowledge and great understanding of women’s health; she easily put these topics into terms that were easily understood without having a medical background. I was seeing her for a specific problem but I left with a greater understanding of many different aspects of my body and its cycles and how to stay healthy. Katie gave me many suggestions and ideas on how to improve various women’s health concerns as well as my general wellbeing.
Within a few minutes of my first visit to Katie I could see that she had a true passion for women’s health and that she really wanted to figure out how to help me. Katie is much more than a physical therapist she’s a women’s health advocate. When you see Katie you know you are in good hands, she is part of an important support system that every woman should have access to.
Katie is meant to be helping women and it shows every time I see her; she is enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable, and encouraging. Very glad to have found her in my local community!
As a stay-at-home mama of 3 kids and a chronic pain patient with autoimmune arthritis, my well-being is crucial to our family. I was lucky enough to find Katie, and she’s been a crucial part of my pain management and better functioning of my body.
Establishing care with Katie is hands down one of the best things I’ve done to help manage my chronic pain. I was originally seen for Pelvic Floor and Core therapy, and Katie thoughtfully and expertly guided me through the process of re-training those muscles, and learning to use them correctly for daily functions. Once we saw an improvement in that, we moved on to other chronically painful areas.
Katie has been so important to help me learn new neuro-muscular patterns for muscle groups that I do not engage properly. From manual therapy, to exercises, to occasional taping, to helping me develop an effective home care program for problem spots during the week, to a referral to an exercise program that will help keep me moving, and to referrals to other specialists as needed, Katie has been a wealth of knowledge and helps me attack these problems from all angles. She has helped me modify some of my favorite yoga exercises to accommodate my body’s limitations. Additionally, she always will thoughtfully answer questions, and has improved my body awareness- I’ve got such a better understanding now if my pain originates from joints that are not gliding, muscles that are too tight or loose, or ligaments that are pulling. This has been so helpful in determining my best approach to relieve pain and in communicating updates to my medical providers.
More than anything, Katie has given me hope- hope that I can manage my chronic pain to reasonable levels. I’ve gained knowledge and tools to maintain a level of physical well-being that won’t slow me down as I care for my family.
I highly recommend Katie Band. I saw Katie for pelvic floor issues and she was absolutely amazing. It can be a scary subject for women but Katie was so friendly and knowledgeable, she put all of my concerns to rest. She really cares about getting you back to your most comfortable self.
I came to Katie Band with a hip labral tear. There were many activities I started avoiding because of the pain and weakness that had developed. I was impressed with the evaluation Katie performed at my first appointment, I have never had a more informative session. Within three weeks of seeing Katie my strength and range of motion had improved. I am now back in Yoga with few limitations and back to those activities I thought I would have to give up. Katie is very dedicated to her work and her patients are extremely important to her. I have recommended people to Katie because I knew they would be in good hands.
After giving natural birth to my 9lb daughter I thought my body would never be the same again. Thanks to the support, encouragement and kindness of Katie Band I was able to completely recover and am stronger because of her. Katie's dedication to improving the lives of her patients is inspirational. I am forever grateful!
Katie Band is a miracle worker! I highly recommend her to anyone needing physical or sports therapy. I first began seeing Katie in the third trimester of my pregnancy in 2014. I had pelvic, hip and back pain after becoming pregnant so quickly following the birth of my son in 2013. Walking, sitting, running, and sleeping were painful, my abdominal muscles were separated, and I had difficulty with leakage during any activity. In the first assessment appointment with Katie, she carefully and thoroughly analyzed every area that appeared unbalanced or was painful, and did some adjustments. She sent me home with some targeted stretches and exercises, and I improved immediately. Within a couple weeks, I felt fantastic and could walk without pain. Over the next few months as my body continued to change and expand, Katie carefully adjusted and added to my therapy as needed. By my 37th week, I had zero pain, my back and hips were in alignment and I hadn't had a leakage problem in weeks.
Two weeks ago, I saw Katie again at 8 weeks post-partum. During those first 8 weeks after delivery of my daughter, I neither walked nor did a single exercise. To my amazement, all of the therapy we did during the pregnancy not only made my pregnancy more comfortable, but directly resulted in a swift and complete recovery! At that 8-week assessment, my abdominal muscles were back together, my hips and spine are exactly where they are supposed to be, and I have neither leakage nor pain! We are now working on targeted strengthening exercises so that I will be able to run and train again, safely. After one week of doing the exercises, I already feel stronger.
Six weeks with my foot immobile after having had foot surgery, both my foot and ankle were stiff and weak. My doctor dismissed recommended physical therapy. Katie was assigned to me and I'm extremely glad she was! She explained everything that was going on with the muscles in my foot and ankle and answered all my questions. Katie not only showed me the exercises that I needed to do, she made sure I did them correctly. She also massaged and manipulated my ankle and toes to help with flexibility. I found Katie to be very professional, skilled, and well trained. She is also a very pleasant and a genuinely caring person to work with. I would highly recommend Katie to anyone in need of a physical therapist.
The quality of support Katie Band gives to her patients is indescribable. I was being treated by her for urinary incontinence. Before the initial examination began, I was extremely nervous to be undressed and so exposed. Katie was professional and provided a comfortable atmosphere that quickly took my nerves away. After her thorough exam, she spent quality time explaining my issues in depth by using pictures of the human anatomy of how it should work and how my body is currently working. I was given a treatment plan, both written out and video emailed, and am regularly followed up with. Her level of care is genuine, honest and true. Never have I had a provider show so much care to my physical health. I am grateful for the professional support she gave to me.
Katie did a wonderful job educating me and helping me regain strength and normalcy in my pelvic area after having two babies 15 months apart. She is the leading expert in postpartum recovery, highly recommended by OBGYNs in Spokane Valley. She is personable, empathetic, positive and reassuring, and her PT techniques WORK. Thank you, Kate! You are wonderful!
